VAST PS2 ModChip & USB Memory Card Set For Release

PlayStation 2 No Comments »

Maxconsole.net has posted the first ever pics of the new VAST PS2/Two ModChip which also happens to be a memory card with USB connectivity. We have never seen anything easier than the VAST to use. No soldering, no disassembly, no problems. To use the Vast you do nothing more than plug the VAST into the PS2/Two memory card slot and start up the console.

The new product is a 100% MagicGate compatible 32MB PS2 memory card which works on all un-modded PS2/Two systems in the same fashion a memory card does. Using the supplied software, it will be possible to upload and download files via a USB Connection which is built into the 32MB memory of the memory card product.

Again, upon insertion of the pictured memory card, the PS2/Two will become fully unlocked allowing you to enhance your gaming experience with unlocked saved, additional operating systems, emulators, media and other related homebrew goodness. We were also told that full specifications and a website will be unveiled relatively soon.

Team Cyclops has released firmware version 3.5 for the CycloWiz Mod Chip for Wii. Version 3.5 of the CycloWiz firmware fixes dual layer DVD support. While CycloWiz has always supported dual layer DVDs version 3.0 of the firmware broke that functionality which is now fixed in version 3.5. Installation instructions are available in the support section of their website.

In addition to a new firmware they’ve also released a new tool called the Dual Layer DVD Test Tool that can be used with any Wii Mod Chip to detect it’s dual layer disc compatibility. Since all Wii games are shipped on single layer discs the laser assembly is not tuned properly to read dual layer DVDs even if the firmware supports it. This tool will allow you to test whether or not your Wii is capable of reading Dual Layer DVD discs.
