Team Xecuter’s first PS3 product known as the HDXT PS3 Hard Drive Xtender is now in stock and ready to ship. The Xecuter PS3 HDXT is a caddy type frame that plugs into the PS3 internally where the 2.5″ SATA drive would normally slot. You then clip on the matching faceplate and bingo you now have a clean external SATA connection. You can now add any hard drive you wish and connect it any way you wish.
The optional SATA to IDE converter designed by Team Xecuter to use with their HDXT, or any other device that need such type of converter.
Today Team Xecuter revealed the design for their new PlayStation3 venture known as the PS3 Hyperdrive. Keeping in line with Team Xecuter quality the PS3 Hyperdrive design is stunning not to mention infinitely practical. The Hyperdrive will allow you to use any hard disk drive with your PS3 and connect the same hard drive to a PC via USB. We don’t have an ETA as of yet but we can hardly wait to get our hands on the goods.

Over the weekend we had a chance to put together a video and outline what is required to upgrade your PlayStation 3 hard drive. Keep in mind that the installation is very straight forward and WILL NOT void your PlayStation 3 warranty.
The drive is concealed behind a panel on the side of the PS3. To remove the panel simply pry up the end with a small slot head screwdriver. You will find that the factory drive cage will contain an OEM Seagate 2.5″ 5400RPM SATA drive.
To free the drive cage from the PS3 chassis you must remove the single BLUE screw with a phillips screwdriver.
Once you have removed the single BLUE screw you can use the drive cage pull tab to slide the drive cage towards the front of the PS3 unit and free of the internal SATA connector. Once free of the internal SATA connector you can slide the drive cage out of the PS3 all together.
After you have removed the drive cage from the PS3 you can remove the 4 screws securing the hard drive to the drive cage and seperate the drive from the cage. Slide in your 100GB upgrade hard drive or 120GB upgrade hard drive and secure it to the drive cage using the 4 screws you removed in the previous step.
Once you have the drive secured in the drive cage you can slide the cage back into the PS3 and then slide it towards the back of the console to engage the internal SATA connector. Now that the new drive is in place replace the BLUE screw and the access panel. Reconnect you PS3 and power the system ON. The PS3 will automatically detect the new drive and prompt you to format the drive
Once the format is complete your new hard drive is ready for use.

Maybe you have a PlayStation 3 and maybe you don’t but if you are one of the lucky one’s that got stuck with a 20GB model or one of the storage-hungry individuals still not satisfied by 60GBs we have a solution for you. ConsoleSource.com just added 100GB and 120GB replacement upgrade drives from Fujitsu to our PS3 product lineup.
Installation of these upgrade drives is plug-and-play and will take you less than 5 minutes. Once installed the PS3 UI will prompt you to format the HDD and then that’s it your all set. We are working on an installation tutorial which we expect to post in the next couple of days. The Fujitsu 120GB PS3 hard drive retails for $169.99 and the Fujitsu 120GB PS3 hard drive retails for $139.99.
